Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to join our Project Engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development and execution of capital and reliability projects that improve the safety, performance, and long-term value of our Brandon facility. This position offers significant ownership and opportunities for career growth within a dynamic manufacturing environment.


Our Team

Based in Brandon, Manitoba, Koch Fertilizer Canada, ULC's operations have been producing agricultural fertilizer products since 1967. We synthesize and blend nitrogen, phosphate, and sulfur products with ammonia, which we market primarily in the prairie provinces of Canada and the northern United States.


What You Will Do

  • Develop project scopes, objectives, and goals aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Prepare project justification documentation, including economic evaluations and funding requests.
  • Develop and manage project estimates, budgets, schedules, and work plans in collaboration with project stakeholders.
  • Develop scopes of work, equipment specifications, and contractor work packages.
  • Lead the identification of project risks and develop mitigation plans with cross-functional project teams.
  • Monitor project execution to ensure compliance with budget, schedule, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to operational facilities as needed.
  • Participate in technical evaluations and selection of equipment, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Promote safety through active participation in safety programs and integration of safety requirements into project deliverables.
  • Communicate project progress, key decisions, and project performance to stakeholders and project sponsors.

The successful candidate will report to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate a computer and related equipment.
  • Availability to work flexible hours based on business needs.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb stairs and ladders and work at heights.
  • Ability to safely wear required respiratory protection and personal protective equipment as required for the work environment.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience managing mechanical engineering or capital improvement projects in a chemical, fertilizer, refining, energy, or other heavy industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  • Work authorization to work in Canada


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Engineering design, project management, and construction management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in Manitoba.
  • Familiarity with ASME and CSA codes, along with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Previous project experience in the fertilizer or chemical industry.
