Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

About the Company

Our client is a leading FMCG manufacturer, supplying high-quality food ingredients to customers across the UK.

We are looking for experienced Mechanical Maintenance Engineers to ensure production and site equipment runs efficiently. You will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing mechanical systems and machinery to minimize downtime and maximize reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Machine setup, installation, and maintenance across production equipment
• Repair, fabrication, and welding tasks to maintain machinery integrity
• Pre-maintenance inspections and corrective actions
• Diagnose faults, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions
• Read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
• Support workshop operations and general machine tool usage
• Maintain and update work orders using CMMS systems
• Comply with health, safety, and hygiene standards

Requirements

• Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering (Apprenticeship, BTEC, or equivalent)
• 5+ years experience in mechanical maintenance within FMCG or food & beverage manufacturing
• Hands-on experience in equipment repair, maintenance, and installation
• Knowledge of industrial utilities (compressed air, steam generation)
• Strong troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) skills
• Proficient in safe use of hand and power tools

Desirable Skills

• Understanding of hygiene and safety in food production environments
• Experience with 5S and workplace organization systems
• Excellent time management and ability to work independently or in a team
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
