Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, expanding humanity’s reach into the solar system. Today, Astranis satellites provide dedicated, secure networks to highly-sophisticated customers across the globe— large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and many more set to launch soon, the company is servicing a backlog of more than $1 billion of commercial contracts.

Astranis has raised over $750 million from some of the world’s best investors, from Andreessen Horowitz to Blackrock and Fidelity, and employs a team of 450 engineers and entrepreneurs. Astranis designs, builds, and operates its satellites out of its 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California, USA.

Mechanical Integration Engineer

As a member of the Mechanical Integration team at Astranis, you'll be responsible for building parts, subsystems, and ultimately, entire satellites. • Work hands-on with flight hardware at build, test and launch sites to ensure mission success
  • Design ground support equipment to assist with the assembly, integration and test of the spacecraft
  • Create, maintain and communicate detailed schedules, ensuring the team is aware of tasks and deadlines, including resource identification and acquisition
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring additional teammates to our rapidly-growing team

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • 2+ years experience in hands-on mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent role

  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Strong sense of accountability, integrity, and team focus with extensive multitasking and organizational experience
  • Don't meet them all? Not a problem. Please apply even if you do not meet all these criteria.

Bonus

  • Strong electrical and mechanical systems engineering intuition and critical thinking. Comfort with ambiguity and turning high-level requirements into clear design/test objectives.
  • Experience with precision alignments processes, such as FARO scanning, photogrammetry, or laser tracking
  • Experience with 3D CAD
