We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Foreman to join our Mechanical Engineering Team based in our upcoming workshop in Tauranga

Our work spans the water, wastewater, industrial services, and process infrastructure sectors, with strong integration across mechanical, electrical, civil, structural, and controls disciplines.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll lead from the front, keep day-to-day site activities running smoothly, and drive a team of Fitters and Welders to deliver safe, high-quality work through to successful project completion.

You’ll bring strong mechanical workshop experience, a practical mindset, and the kind of leadership that gets people working well together. At Fulton Hogan, titles matter less than ideas and impact. You’ll be backed to lead from the front, build a strong team culture, and keep standards high when it counts.

In addition to the above you will:

  • Lead, coordinate and support a team of mechanical fitters and welders across daily operations.
  • Plan and prioritise work to ensure jobs are delivered safely on time and to a high standard.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, coaching and problem-solving on the tools when needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and make sure work is carried out in line with site requirements and procedures.
  • Work closely with supervisors, mechanical engineers and project managers to keep communication clear and work flowing.
  • Monitor quality, productivity and workmanship across mechanical maintenance and fabrication activities.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying smarter, safer and more efficient ways of working.

We’re looking for someone with

  • Have 5+ years as a Mechanical Foreman or Supervisor in an industrial or engineering company.
  • A solid background as a mechanical fitter or welding, with strong hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, installation or heavy industrial work.
  • Strong technical knowledge and the ability to support mechanical fitters and welders with practical, on-the-ground leadership.
  • Proven experience leading, guiding or coordinating a team of tradespeople in a site or workshop environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety and understand of the H&S Worksafe Act.
  • Good planning, organisation and problem-solving skills.
  • A confident communication style and the ability to build trust across teams.
  • The ability to carry out the inherent requirements of the role and work comfortably in industrial and site-based environments.
