The Opportunity

Orrcon Steel is looking for a Mechanical Fitter (Tooling) to join our team in Unanderra Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationallyrecognised brands.

The Unanderra Orrcon Steel mill is a cutting-edge facility that represents a significant milestone in our commitment to innovation and excellence in steel manufacturing. The Unanderra mill is instrumental in producing our renowned StrucTube branded product, catering to the diverse needs of our customers.

In this role, your focus will be the assembly, install and refurbishment of the Mechanical Tooling associated with our steel processing plant. You will also provide hands-on maintenance services to our production teams, who operate within a continuous manufacturing environment.

This position operates on an alternating day and afternoon shift roster, consisting of 8-hour shifts.

What Will You Do?

In this hands-on role, you will ensure that equipment is maintained to the highest standards to meet our objectives for safety, quality and reliability. You will apply your mechanical fitting skills and experience to complete both complex and routine maintenance tasks. You will do the following:

• install, assemble and the refurbish Machine tooling.
• stocktake of spares
• inspecting quality critical equipment and fault finding.
• participating in Roll change & preventative maintenance
• assist with ways to continuously improve our tooling processes.

More About You

You will have a strong technical background with the ability to work effectively and flexibly in a team environment. You will also have:

• mechanical fitting/machining trade qualifications.
• experience within a maintenance function.
• experience working both independently and as part of a manufacturing team.
• strong attention to detail with the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently.
• a commitment to your own safety and wellbeing and care for others.
