Summary
The Mechanical Exchange Technician I is responsible for supporting the rebuild spindle units to OEM specifications.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities
- Disassemble spindle units and report on suspected failure
- Clean parts and housings for unit assembly
- Maintain work order, pictures, and documents
- Prepare crates, and crate spindle units
- Help maintain a clean and safe working environment (5S)
- Support process improvements
- Work with other departments to solve problems
- Ability to start work at 7:00am and work until 3:30pm as standard shift
- Ability to work overtime daily and weekends as needed
- Adheres to all company employment policies and safe practices
- Performs other duties as assigned and explores opportunities to add value

Physical and Environmental Elements
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms for at least 7/8 of the normal work shift
- Ability to lift and carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds
- Ability to stoop, crouch and reach
- Ability to talk or hear continuously
- Ability to see clearly to do all work-related tasks (clear or corrected vision at 20 inches or less)
- Ability to operate a vehicle and possess a valid driver's license
- Finger dexterity is required frequently for over 7/8 of the normal work shift including operating a phone, computer/ electronic equipment, and tools

Work Environment:
- The majority of the position’s functions are performed in the Okuma warehouse/ showroom.
- The employee works in an open warehouse area where temperatures may be subject to outdoor conditions in terms of cold and heat.  There is exposure to various tools and equipment as well as forklift operations and corresponding noise levels.
- Works in an area around airborne water-based cleaners, industrial solvents, and aerosol paints and will use standard PPE
- A small portion of the position’s functions may be performed in the office environment with standard equipment and moderate noise levels (examples: computers, printers, fax, copiers, light traffic, and phone)
Special Requirements
- Maintain annual OSHA safety certifications as required by job duties
- Driving record that is insurable
- Live within a commutable distance of the corporate office
