Job Description

The Mechanical engineer is responsible to start, produce and finish engineering projects for a leading MEP firm. The Sr, Mechanical engineer will also assist with construction projects. The Sr. Mechanical engineer responsible to manage all aspects of engineering and construction projects from conception to completion. This position will require some travelling and essentially will be required to be on the construction site, in some cases at least once a week. The Sr. Mechanical engineer is expected to conduct multiple projects simultaneously and conduct project meetings with owners and contractors.

Requirements

– BSME

– PE License with a current NCEES record Preferred
– 5+ years’ experience in the Consulting/HVAC Construction Industry
– Familiar with NFPA/ASHRAE and related codes
– HVAC/Chiller/Rooftop units/Piping/Ductwork design for commercial and industrial application
– AutoCAD/REVIT/MS Office/MS Projects/Trane Tracer Program

  1. Develop, monitor and control engineering staff, standards, quality and efficiency to meet or exceed corporate and customer’s expectation.
  • Obtain, diagnose and respond to specific department’s needs that will enhance the quality of the department’s customer service and satisfaction for a mutually beneficial relationship between the company and customers.
  • Initiate, complete and deliver related engineering standards, training and staffing requirements in order to achieve corporate business goals.
  • Promote services to existing customer base while conducting services for them.
  • Identify and initiate contact with potential customers in a manner that is consistent with our corporate core values.
  • Prepare proposals and estimates for all design and construction projects
  • Key Competency Areas
  1. Technical Skills:
  • Understands and is proficient in the mechanical construction industry, specifically in the area of critical HVAC systems industry. Capable to create design, construction and bid documents. Understand change orders, meeting notes, codes, etc.
  • Understands and is proficient in these areas:
  1. Heat gain and heat loss load analysis
  2. Water system applications (hot, chilled, glycol)
  3. Steam system applications
  4. Refrigerant system applications
  5. Air system applications (supply, return, exhaust, ventilation)
  6. Building automation and automatic temperature control systems
  7. Fire protections systems
  8. Sanitary DWV piping systems
  9. Domestic hot and cold water systems
  10. Fuel oil piping systems
  11. Equipment selection and analysis
  12. Computerized fluid Dynamics
  • Understands Building Codes and standards – NEC, BOCA, OBC, NFPA, ASHRAE, ASPE, IBC, ASME etc.
  • Understand and is proficient in creating construction drawings and specifications and method of procedures.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, AutoCAD, MS project.
  • Understands and is capable of providing construction estimate.
  • Problem Solving Expertise:
  • The rational approach to the processes involved in identifying and defining the project goals and problems, selecting and implementing alternative solutions strategies, the management of resources and contingencies and reducing performance deviations.
  • Influencing Capabilities:
  • Demonstrated leadership in the attitudes and behaviors in the effective assessment management and adaptability required in handling situations (including decision making, behavior, conflict management, negotiations scenario’s etc.)
  • Planning:
  • Competency in strategic and operational planning methods and procedures, the monitoring and measurement of targeted results, resource allocation and management practices.
  • Managerial:
  • The basic set of managerial task management attributes involving directing, implementing, motivating and evaluation of general work environment (in the office and at the construction site) for the purpose of accomplishing specific, targeted objectives.
  • Communications:
  • Good communications skills required to effectively conduct daily management of project personnel – contractors & owners.
