Job Description

What You Will Do:
As the Engineering Manager, you are responsible for effectively managing the engineering of Plating and Anodizing projects while building relationships with external and internal customers.

How You Will Do It:
• Oversee complete system layout and design on projects.
• Apply proper economic and technical judgment to maximize system output without sacrificing performance. Use standard design guides, vendor partnerships, and technical judgments based on previous experience to provide accurate estimates to customers as quickly as possible.
• Build customer confidence by providing engineering leadership through design reviews, quality inspection visits, installation, and startup assistance.
• Direct the design effort and coordinates the efforts of all other team members (i.e. Mechanical Designers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, and Field Technicians) to maximize responsiveness to engineering issues as they arise.
• Maintain the team’s focus on expected and actual system performance issues.
• Manage project schedules and plans for all team members.
• Ensure equipment supplied meets the contract performance objectives, contract requirements, and GKS standards. Look for areas that require original engineering analysis in lieu of application of standards.
• Support manufacturing and field activities with technical interpretations, problem solving, and schedule and quality inspections. Oversee manufacturing and field installation work for quality and progress.
• Provide industry leading innovative concept possibilities to improve performance and reduce costs.
• Ensures all industry and Koch engineering standards are followed. Ensures compliance with regulatory and industrial safety standards on all engineering designs and specifications.
• As required, makes field inspection trips to gather site information for interfaces between systems and support field installation and startup.
• Manage engineering analysis work and prepares supporting reports, i.e., sizing and analysis of steel designs and conveyor designs.
• Ensure scope of work and deliverables of the contract are always translated to engineering specifications throughout the course of the project.
• Ensure material and engineering budgets are met.
• Ensure engineering documents are maintained in good order, i.e., drawings, description of operation, sequence of operation, owner’s manual, reports, etc.
• Provide updates to General Manager regarding engineering status and necessary budget alterations.
• Perform ongoing risk and design reviews throughout the course of the project to ensure overall performance of the final system. Recognize and take corrective action when technical difficulties arise that can jeopardize the outcome of the project.
• Develop technical ability of Koch engineers and designers. Analyze training needs of all team members, especially newer ones, and provides all on the job training required.
• Research standards for improvement opportunities and develops engineering tools that lead to improved engineering performance and cost-efficient designs.
• Conduct in-house training sessions in area of expertise as needed.

The position requires…
• B.S. Engineering Degree and experience with turnkey project or EPC delivery
• Prior experience leading a multi-discipline Project Engineering team
• Professional Engineer certification (preferred).
• Experience presenting to a technical society or conference (preferred).
• Ability to apply engineering training to solve the variety of problems related to finishing and specialized processing equipment.
• Ability to initiate change and create a sense of urgency.
• Skills in current software applications, i.e., AutoCAD, Inventor, Procore and MS Office products.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
• Prior project management experience preferred
• Ability to read design drawings required
• Organized with extreme attention to detail
