Job Description

Mechanical Engineer – Water Treatment

Brisbane

Design infrastructure that matters. Shape cities. Protect water.

At Aurecon, we’re not here to do “business as usual”. We deliver water infrastructure that enables thriving cities, resilient communities and a more sustainable future.

If you want your ideas to leave a legacy — this is your opportunity.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer with strong water treatment experience to join our award winning Water team in Brisbane.

With 4–10 years’ experience, you’ll take on technically challenging projects across major water and wastewater programs in South East Queensland and across ANZ — from early feasibility through to detailed design and delivery.

You’ll work directly with government clients, delivery partners and multidisciplinary teams, with the scope to influence outcomes, shape solutions, and grow your technical and professional profile.

This is a role for someone who wants to step up, be trusted, and make an impact.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be hands-on, trusted, and influential — including:

  • Delivering mechanical design on complex water and wastewater treatment projects
  • Developing concept and detailed designs for treatment plants and associated infrastructure
  • Contributing to feasibility studies, business cases and reference designs
  • Working closely with clients to deliver practical, high‑value outcomes
  • Collaborating with civil, process, electrical and digital teams to create integrated, constructible designs
  • Supporting bids, planning and project delivery activities
  • Providing technical guidance and informal mentoring to developing engineers

What You’ll Bring

You’re a technically strong engineer who enjoys solving complex challenges and cares about sustainable outcomes.

You’ll have:

  • A Mechanical Engineering degree
  • 4–10 years’ experience in water and/or wastewater treatment
  • Strong mechanical design capability across treatment plants and related infrastructure
  • Experience with:
    • Water and wastewater treatment facilities
    • Pumping stations
    • Fluid hydraulics
    • Pipework and mechanical systems
  • RPEQ certification or actively working toward registration
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working in multidisciplinary teams

Why Aurecon?

Because your career should grow as fast as your ambition.

At Aurecon, you’ll join a global design, engineering and advisory firm recognised for innovation, sustainability and inclusive culture

  • Top 5 for sustainability leadership and Top 3 for innovation (AFR)
