We are a community of engineers looking for a dependable engineer to join our tight-knit group. The Mechanical Controls group is an organization within FBM that is responsible for the design and production support of the systems that control the missile both before and after boost. This position is for an Engineer in the Post Boost Control System (PBCS) IPT that both collaborates well in a team environment and has excellent communication skills. In this role, you will have numerous opportunities to represent the PBCS IPT with our Navy partner, LM leadership, and suppliers, with many opportunities for career development along the way. The PBCS IPT is responsible for the development, manufacture, and management of the PBCS which is an attitude control and propulsive subsystem controlling the missile in a phase of the flight.

As part of our team, you will have the opportunity to be the Certified Principle Engineer (CPE) delegate for the PBCS Gas Generators (Small Solid Rocket Motors). As CPE delegate, you will be empowered to develop technical solutions, work with our subcontract partners, perform propulsion analysis, and be a technical lead of the Gas Generators throughout different phases of the product life-cycle (qualification, production, service support, aging, etc.).

Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.

Basic Qualifications

• Any combination of experience in: engineering project management, supplier management, annual budget proposals, technical evaluations, tracking and development of cost/schedule Exposure to or participation with failure investigations, root cause analysis, and/or corrective action disposition
• Ability to interpret data and/or perform data analysis
• Strong written and oral communication with the ability to document technical work clearly
• Proven collaboration in interdisciplinary or project‑team setting
• Ability to obtain a US‑based security clearance if required by the FBM program

Desired Skills

Knowledge of the FBM program or other large scale missile or rocket programs

Missile and/or aerospace related education or experience

• Experience with FBM processes and products
• Experience with aerospace manufacturing
• Experience in gas/fluid dynamics or energetics/propellants
• Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Experience as principal engineer delegate or project lead
• Risk and opportunity experience with an understanding of continuous improvement concepts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and initiative

Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
