British American Tobacco Bangladesh has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer Secondary - Savar


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor and improve the mechanical health, reliability, and performance of production machinery and associated manufacturing equipment.
  • Develop and execute reliability improvement initiatives to reduce equipment failures, improve machine availability, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Implement predictive, preventive, and condition-based maintenance techniques to improve equipment reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.
  • Support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives focused on equipment performance, asset reliability, and manufacturing excellence.
  • Support major maintenance shutdowns, equipment overhauls, refurbishment projects, and asset restoration activities.
  • Ensure maintenance documentation, technical records, and asset information are accurate, updated, and properly controlled.
  • Ensure compliance with BAT Global Operations Management (GOM) standards, engineering best practices, and maintenance governance requirements.
  • Develop asset care strategies, identify critical asset risks, and implement mitigation plans to improve long-term equipment performance.
  • Support capital expenditure planning, equipment upgrade projects, modernization initiatives, and replacement strategies.
  • Ensure critical spare parts requirements are identified, maintained, and aligned with business continuity needs.
  • Utilize SAP PM for maintenance planning, work order management, maintenance notifications, reporting, equipment records, task lists, and maintenance plans.
  • Maintain equipment master data, Bills of Material (BOM), maintenance history, and asset records within SAP PM.
  • Analyse maintenance data, equipment performance trends, and SAP reports to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, engineering standards, company policies, and LOTO requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to mechanical systems and maintenance activities and drive mitigation actions.
  • Foster a strong safety culture while ensuring engineering activities support product quality and manufacturing compliance requirements.

What are we looking for?

  • A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in mechanical maintenance, reliability engineering, asset management, or manufacturing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance methodologies, reliability engineering principles, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Hands-on experience conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), failure investigations, and reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Good understanding of preventive, predictive, condition-based, and corrective maintenance practices.
  • Knowledge of asset lifecycle management, critical spare management, maintenance planning, and equipment reliability strategies.
  • Experience working with SAP PM or other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
  • Familiarity with maintenance KPIs such as OEE, MTBF, MTTR, Asset Health Index, and Machine Availability.
  • Strong understanding of engineering safety standards, risk assessment methodologies, and LOTO procedures.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across maintenance, production, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, drive continuous improvement programs, and deliver sustainable operational results.
