British American Tobacco Bangladesh has an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer- Savar


Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor and improve health, reliability, and performance of production machinery.
  • Develop and execute reliability improvement plans to reduce equipment breakdowns, production losses, and unplanned downtime.
  • Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for failures and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
  • Drive predictive, condition-based, preventive, and corrective maintenance strategies to maximize asset reliability and availability.
  • Monitor critical parameters, equipment condition trends, and asset health indicators to support proactive maintenance decisions.
  • Develop, review, and optimize maintenance plans based on asset criticality, risk assessments, and equipment failure history.
  • Support shutdown planning, major maintenance activities, and long-term equipment care initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with BAT Global Operations Management (GOM) standards, engineering procedures, maintenance processes, and operating standards.
  • Lead maintenance compliance assessments, support audit activities, and drive closure of identified gaps and improvement actions.
  • Manage strategic and business-critical assets throughout their lifecycle, ensuring optimal availability, reliability, and lifecycle value.
  • Develop asset management strategies, maintain critical asset registers, identify risk mitigation plans, and support asset replacement initiatives.
  • Ensure critical spare parts requirements are identified, maintained, and aligned with business continuity needs.
  • Utilize SAP PM for maintenance planning, work order management, reporting, equipment master data updates, maintenance plans, task lists, and BOM management.
  • Analyze equipment performance, maintenance history, backlog management, and compliance metrics using SAP PM reports and dashboards.
  • Ensure all electrical work complies with safety regulations, company standards, LOTO requirements, and engineering best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments, identify mitigation measures for electrical hazards, and promote a strong safety culture across engineering and maintenance teams.
  • Support continuous improvement, loss elimination, energy efficiency, and equipment modernization initiatives to enhance operational performance.

What are we looking for?

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 3-5 years of experience in electrical maintenance, reliability engineering, asset management, or industrial manufacturing environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, industrial automation, preventive and predictive maintenance methodologies, and reliability engineering principles.
  • Hands-on experience in conducting root cause analysis (RCA), failure investigations, and implementing reliability improvement programs.
  • Practical knowledge of asset lifecycle management, strategic asset planning, critical spare management, and risk-based maintenance approaches.
  • Experience working with SAP PM or similar computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety standards, LOTO practices, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills with the ability to convert insights into actionable improvement plans.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across production, engineering, maintenance, and leadership teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and deliver sustainable operational results.
