Visit TextronSystems.com & Lycoming.com to read more about who we are and the products we make!About This RoleTextron Systems is seeking a full-time Mechanical Engineer to provide hands-on technical leadership and delivery support for the development, integration, test, and production of complex mechanical hardware. This role will work closely with mechanical design engineers, systems engineers, manufacturing, test, suppliers, and program leadership to ensure mechanical hardware is delivered on schedule and meets all technical, quality, and performance requirements. The candidate should possess good communication and presentation skills and be comfortable interacting within a multidiscipline team. This position requires that the candidate be a US citizen with or capable of receiving a secret level security clearance.ResponsibilitiesParticipating in resolving non-conformances related to mechanical parts and assemblies that develop during builds in preparation for hardware delivery to our program customer.Provide day-to-day engineering supporting the integration and delivery of mechanical parts and aeroshell flight hardware to our program customer.Lead or support technical investigations of hardware failures, discrepancies, and nonconformancesCoordinate with mechanical designers, systems engineers, manufacturing, test engineering, quality, suppliers, and program management to resolve hardware issues.Provide engineering disposition and technical direction for hardware discrepancies encountered during manufacturing and test.Coordinating engineering changes and ensuring impacts to hardware already in fabrication or test are understood and addressed.Creating Technical Data Packages that include 3D drawings, specifications and materials lists for components and assemblies of mechanical and electro-mechanical applications.Preparing and directing high quality mechanical and electro-mechanical detail and assembly drawings and engineering change notices in support of hardware changes due to non-conformances or build issuesWriting technical documents, including, but not limited to, Supplier Document Requirements List (SDRL) documentsSupporting continuous improvement of mechanical hardware development and delivery processes.
QualificationsThe candidate should be comfortable as a designer of mechanical components and systems subjected to extreme hypersonic flight conditions. The activities include packaging design of electronics systems and interconnects, the development of interface control documents, and understanding of designing for electrical manufacturing and assembly techniques. The candidate should be well versed in CAD design utilizing 3D digital product development tools and understanding geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.Demonstrated participation in mechanical and structure design team activities leading to a qualified aeroshell design capable of reacting high loading and thermal gradient conditions.Skilled utilization of 3D digital manufacturing information to influence design definition options (preferably Siemens solutions) allowing manufacturable detailed assemblies and material schedules subject to configuration management. Proficiency required in Siemen’s Mechanical Design Manufacturing and Product Lifecycle Management Digital Integration Model (NX, Teamcenter) including product specification development, surface finish and material specification via PMP.Demonstrated ability to resolve complex technical problems and drive issues to closure.Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering 2+ years’ experience in a related field for Level II, 5+ years of experience in a related field for Level IIIPossesses or has ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance*This role is open at multiple levels. The pay range should be used as a general guide only. Compensation is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $92,600 - $176,200 per year.
