The Mechanical Engineer I is a role responsible for supporting engineering projects by applying fundamental principles, standard procedures, and basic technical skills. This position involves performing routine technical tasks with guidance, using prescribed methods and CAD tools, while developing an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities. The role emphasizes skill-building, teamwork, and effective communication, as the engineer collaborates with peers, staff, contractors, and the public to contribute to project success. Candidates typically have a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field), 1–3 years of experience, and primarily academic knowledge of engineering practices, along with a willingness to learn and grow within a professional environment
How You’ll Make an Impact:
Acquires limited knowledge and develops basic skills
Applies prescribed techniques and procedures in accordance with established criteria to perform assigned tasks
Performs routine technical work which does not require previous experience
Acquires an understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities
May review the technical output of ME1 or MD1 team members as directed
Influences peers through team interactions
Contributes to success of group projects
Possesses basic oral and written communication skills
Interacts with staff, general public, and contractors
Assists with client, customer, or official contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments or meetings

What You’ll Bring:
1-3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer
Experienced with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Creo, NX, AutoCAD)
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
Associates degree (2-year) with experience from accredited program (ABET/EAC)
Has a primarily academic knowledge of a subset of the engineering discipline principles, practices, and procedures.
