Requisition Summary

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for engineering investigation, research, design, and analysis of class 8 and medium duty chassis and suspension systems. Duties involve root cause analysis, problem definition, problem resolution and reporting of work to upper management. Engineering projects will focus on new product development, production design & support, factory process improvements, field service and warranty support. This position is based at Peterbilt Division Headquarters in Denton, Texas. The Mechanical Engineer will collaborate with suppliers and other divisions within PACCAR: PACCAR Corporate, Kenworth, Dynacraft and the PACCAR Technical Center.

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates design efforts with other engineering groups and departments within PACCAR.
  • Assigns, approves, performs or delegates designs as appropriate.
  • Analyzes data from warranty claims to support future designs.
  • Utilizes Creo / Pro-Engineer as a design tool.
  • Initiates and implements designs of a complex nature.
  • Prepares engineering activity status reports and other detailed reporting as directed.
  • Identifies, prioritizes and coordinates resolutions of production, production control and Quality Assurance issues as appropriate.
  • Performs calculations, design analysis, testing evaluation and implementation necessary for successful product implementation.
  • Travel up to 10% may be required.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree is required.
  • 7+ years of experience in related field
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck assembly, heavy truck components and systems is preferred. •
  • Previous Design experience of parts and assemblies will be given preference. •
  • Knowledge of chassis layouts and system design is preferred. •
  • Knowledge of component analysis & validation techniques is preferred. •
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint and good presentation skills. Proficiency with Excel.
  • Ability to learn on the fly and adapt to change.
