Key Responsibilities

Strategic Engineering & Design

• 
  Lead the conceptual and detailed design of mechanical systems for construction projects, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, compressed air, and water supply systems.

• 
  Ensure all designs align with project specifications, regulatory standards, sustainability goals, and client requirements.

• 
  Develop mechanical engineering strategies that improve system performance, reduce energy consumption, and enhance lifecycle value.

Project Management & Execution

• 
  Oversee mechanical aspects of building and industrial projects from design through commissioning and handover.

• 
  Prepare and review mechanical BOQs, specifications, and tender documents, and support technical evaluations during the procurement stage.

• 
  Supervise on-site mechanical works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, quality standards, and safety protocols.

• 
  Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, and electrical engineers to ensure full integration of mechanical systems within construction designs.

Systems Analysis & Optimization

• 
  Conduct load calculations, fluid flow analyses, duct sizing, and equipment selection for HVAC and plumbing systems.

• 
  Use simulation and modeling tools (e.g., AutoCAD MEP, Revit, or SolidWorks) to verify designs and optimize system efficiency.

• 
  Perform energy audits and propose efficiency improvements in existing mechanical systems.

Compliance & Quality Control

• 
  Ensure all mechanical systems comply with local and international building codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, or ISO standards).

• 
  Conduct regular inspections, testing, and commissioning of mechanical installations.

• 
  Maintain detailed documentation of mechanical designs, installations, and maintenance schedules.

Leadership & Strategic Contribution

• 
  Contribute to the company’s strategic growth by integrating modern mechanical technologies (e.g., green building systems, smart HVAC, and renewable energy solutions).

• 
  Mentor junior engineers and technicians, promoting continuous professional development and engineering excellence.

• 
  Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and cost-benefit analyses for management and clients.

Requirements

Qualifications

• 
  Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s degree is an added advantage).

• 
  Minimum 3-4 years of experience in mechanical design, construction engineering, or building services.

• 
  Demonstrated experience in HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and mechanical systems installation within construction environments.

• 
  Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP, Revit, SolidWorks, and simulation tools (e.g., HAP, ANSYS).

• 
  Sound understanding of mechanical codes and standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, ISO, or local equivalents).

• 
  Strong project management, analytical, and communication skills.

• 
  Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK)
