Founded in 1978, Formosa Plastics Corporation, U.S.A. (Formosa Plastics) is a growing, vertically-integrated supplier of plastic resins and petrochemicals. Formosa Plastics is a privately held company headquartered in Livingston, New Jersey. Our core business, producing plastic resins and petrochemicals, takes place at three wholly-owned chemical manufacturing subsidiaries located in Delaware City, Delaware, Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Point Comfort, Texas.
I. POSITION OBJECTIVE
The purpose of this position is to design and procure quality mechanical equipment required to operate the site’s units smoothly and with more efficiency. This position’s function is to plan, organize and manage project activities from start to finish and will contribute to assigned projects by preparing budgets and datasheets as well as reviewing schedules and quotation evaluations. He/she will contribute suggestions for design and cost savings and will oversee the installation of equipment on site all while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets environmental, health and safety regulatory and company requirements.
II. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
SAFETY - Maintain a safe and healthy workplace for all employees in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Assure compliance with all company safety, health, and security programs and practices. Provide management and leadership timely and thorough reporting of all incidents to ensure all incidents are investigated properly. Take personal responsibility and ownership for safety, including bringing the attitude that “I am individually responsible for safety” to the job each and every day.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND PROBLEM SOLVING: Plan and coordinate activities concerned with design, construction, and modification of equipment and machinery. Resolve fabrication problems of Pressure vessels, Nozzle orientations, Baffle size & location, Anchor bolt orientation, Support location, Materials and Surface finish, Gasket issues. Evaluate field installations and recommend design modifications to eliminate construction conflict and piping interference.
BUDGET AND COST CONTROL - Manage Project Equipment Budget costs as measured by Monthly Management Reports Analysis of cost deviations and causes of costs; initiation of cost efficiencies; identification of inefficiencies and recommendations to correct; analyze budget trends, develop and recommend cost control requirements.
EQUIPMENT PROCUREMENT: attend new project meeting and understand and study work scope. Provide preliminary designs, bill of materials, and cost estimates for projects. Prepare B-pert, bid tabulation, technical evaluations, and contract award recommendations on various equipment installations.
THM: Promote cleanliness and order through the implementation of the Total House Keeping Maintenance program. Emphasize Nothing Touch Ground program and No Visual Pollution program. Maintain the plant in like new condition.
