Job Description

PACCAR India is looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer (Hood Outer Body & Cab CMP) to join our dynamic team in Pune, specializing in design and development of various truck components, Conceptual Sheetmetal brackets, Plastic & Casting components, HVAC system.

As a Mechanical Engineer at PACCAR, you will leverage your expertise in surfacing skills for plastic and casting component design, CAD modeling, and supporting prototype builds, and ensuring performance, durability, manufacturability, and compliance with engineering standards. Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for ownership of the design and development of Interior & Exterior systems of commercial vehicles
  • Must have proficiency in development of Class A, B, and C surfaces, along with plastic and sheet metal structure design for automotive applications, ensuring compliance with styling, functional, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, including GD&T, BOM creation, and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Perform vehicle packaging, integration, and interface management across subsystems.
  • Should be able to conduct concept/design reviews with lead and division engineers.
  • Should be able to solve technical queries and share knowledge expertise within the team.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams locally and globally to ensure design alignment and manufacturability.
  • The primary function for this position includes:
    • Execution on CAD – Plastic, Sheetmetal, casting, assembly, drawing, advance surfacing knowledge will be an added advantage.
    • Understand design requirements, clearance check, drawing standards, GD&T, and Bill of Material (BOM).
    • Should have exposure to commercial trucks components like Cab, Hood, chassis and truck layouts.
    • Familiar with HAVC system for cab and battery cooling system

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Production Engineering

Knowledge & Skills REQUIRED:

  • 1–3 years of hands on experience in automotive industry (Truck Domain an added advantage).
  • Strong proficiency in Creo Parametric and Windchill.
  • Solid understanding of plastics, casting, sheet metal, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong knowledge plastics exterior and interior trims component development
  • Should have exposure to work on (EV) Electric and engine driven vehicles.
  • Ability to manage and design large assemblies efficiently via. top down and bottom-up approach.
  • Excellent understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack up, and engineering drawing practices.
  • Exposure to conduct concept/design reviews with lead and division engineers
  • Ability to collaborate with both local and global engineering teams.

Knowledge & Skills DESIRED:

  • Experience in HVAC system design will be an added advantage.
  • Exposure to Electric Vehicle (EV) truck layouts, including packaging and integration of EV components, will be preferred.
  • Knowledge of component costing and cost optimization techniques will be an added advantage
