Salary range: £70,000 to £90,000 per annum depending on experience
Location: Leatherhead or Bristol
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office and working from home.
Are you ready to take a leading role in developing composite structures across critical industries? Do you combine deep technical expertise with the ability to set direction, work with stakeholders, and grow capability? If so, we’d love to hear from you.
Frazer-Nash is expanding its composite capability to support major opportunities across maritime, defence, energy, and space. We are seeking a senior technical leader to play a pivotal role in shaping our offering, guiding complex programmes, and setting the strategic direction of our composites work.
As part of our Asset Integrity Group, you will operate at the forefront of engineering innovation—while defining how we deliver technical excellence across the business.
Your responsibilities will include:
Overseeing complex, multidisciplinary programmes, ensuring quality, innovation, and delivery excellence
Acting as a Technical Authority, providing oversight, assurance, and guidance on critical engineering decisions
Shaping long-term strategy for composites capability, including identifying growth areas and emerging technologies
Setting technical direction for composite structural analysis and design across multiple projects and sectors
Defining and evolving methodologies, tools, and standards for composite analysis and life assessment
Supporting innovation in areas such as advanced finite element modelling, damage tolerance, and life extension strategies
Typical technical challenges may include:
Development of life extension and structural integrity strategies
Advanced finite element analysis of composite structures under extreme loads
Assessment of structures under impact loads
Creation of best-practice design and analysis guidance
Supporting the development and optimisation of next-generation products
In addition to your technical leadership, you will:
Build and maintain senior client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
Support and shape new business, contributing to proposals and strategic growth
Lead, mentor, and develop effective technical teams
Encourage a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Represent Frazer-Nash externally through thought leadership and industry engagement
We would be delighted to hear from you if you meet these essential requirements:
Significant experience in the design, analysis, or manufacture of composite structures
Proven track record in leading complex structural analysis programmes
Deep knowledge of composite structural behaviour
Strong understanding of engineering codes, standards, and assurance processes
Demonstrable experience in technical leadership, project direction, or capability development
The following requirements would be beneficial but not essential:
Proficiency with major finite element analysis tools (e.g. Abaqus, Ansys)
Experience with programming (e.g. Python, MATLAB) to support advanced analysis or automation
Experience working in regulated or safety-critical industries
This is an opportunity to take a defining role in a growing capability—where you won’t just deliver projects, but shape the future of how we work, what we offer, and where we go next.
If you’re motivated by technical leadership, strategic impact, and solving some of the most challenging engineering problems, we’d love to hear from you.
Due to the nature of the work that Frazer‑Nash Consultancy undertakes, candidates will be required to undergo pre‑employment screening and must be able to satisfy clearance criteria for UK National Security Vetting.
