Mechanical Engineer

What’s the mahi?

We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer ready to take the next step in their career. We’re expanding our Christchurch building services team to help deliver a strong pipeline of complex new build and refurbishment projects across a range of sectors.

You’ll join a supportive and technically strong building services team working on a diverse mix of new build and refurbishment projects. The role offers structured support and development, with opportunities to build confidence, take on increasing responsibility, and work closely with experienced engineers and other disciplines

What you’ll do:

• Assist with mechanical building services design including HVAC, hydraulics, and plant layouts under senior engineer guidance, with scope increasing as capability and confidence develop
• Prepare calculations, drawings, schedules, and technical documentation for concept through detailed design stages
• Coordinate with architects, structural, electrical, and fire engineers to resolve design solutions
• Support site visits, inspections, and responses to construction queries as designs move into delivery
• Grow your knowledge through applying NZ standards, client requirements, and internal design processes to day‑to‑day engineering tasks
• Contribute to design reviews and quality checks to improve accuracy and build technical confidence

What you’ll bring:

• Degree in mechanical engineering or a related building services discipline.
• Foundational knowledge of HVAC and building services engineering principles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
• Willingness to learn, seek feedback, and continue developing technical capability.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project environment.
• Eligibility for Engineering New Zealand membership or working toward it.
