About the Organization

We are a next-generation transformer manufacturing company specializing in high-voltage (HV/EHV) power solutions, advanced engineering practices, and manufacturing excellence. Our culture is built on ownership, innovation, speed, and cross-functional collaboration.

Position Overview

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will own the end-to-end mechanical design and execution of EHV power transformers — from specification interpretation through manufacturing support and final closure. The role demands strong execution capability and close coordination with electrical and control engineering teams to ensure seamless project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Design & Engineering

  • Prepare outline drawings, GA drawings, and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD tools
  • Design transformer components including tanks, covers, radiators, cooling systems, and internal structures
  • Ensure manufacturability, reliability, and optimized design solutions

Mechanical Calculations & Validation

  • Perform structural, lifting, transportation, and vibration calculations
  • Validate mechanical robustness under operational and handling conditions

Specification Interpretation

  • Interpret customer specifications and technical documents
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, ANSI, and ISO standards

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Coordinate with electrical engineering on inputs and design alignment
  • Coordinate with control engineering on interfaces and routing requirements
  • Liaise with sales, PMO, vendors, and manufacturing teams

Documentation & Deliverables

  • Prepare BOM, engineering documentation, and manufacturing drawings
  • Ensure timely and accurate release of deliverables

Execution Ownership

  • Drive engineering from kickoff through design freeze, manufacturing, and closure
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues

Costing & Commercial Awareness

  • Support costing of mechanical components (tank, structure, cooling systems)
  • Evaluate design alternatives from a cost-vs-performance perspective
  • Work with procurement and vendors on cost inputs
  • Contribute to value engineering and cost optimization initiatives

Required Skills & Competencies

Technical Expertise

  • Experience in transformer mechanical design
  • Proficiency in CAD tools and drafting
  • Strong mechanical calculation capability
  • Knowledge of transformer materials and fabrication practices
  • Familiarity with IEC, ANSI, and ISO standards
  • Awareness of cost drivers in mechanical design

Engineering Awareness

  • Basic understanding of electrical interfaces
  • Basic knowledge of control engineering and ability to read schematics
  • Understanding of cable routing, marshalling boxes, and interface integration

Professional Competencies

  • Strong problem-solving ability
  • Effective communication and coordination
  • High ownership and accountability
  • Self-driven and execution-focused

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in transformer manufacturing/design
  • Experience with EHV transformers preferred

Mobility

  • Willing to relocate to Hyderabad

Ideal Candidate

A mechanical design professional who owns deliverables end-to-end, balances design rigor with execution speed, and stays focused on cost, quality, and timely closure.

Ayr Energy

About Ayr Energy

Ayr Energy wasn’t built to be another OEM. We were built to rethink what customers should expect from one.

Critical infrastructure projects have become more demanding, but the customer experience of buying and delivering power equipment hasn’t kept pace. Too often, customers are left navigating fragmented communication, limited visibility, and unnecessary complexity.

Ayr exists to change that.

We combine engineering expertise, strategic manufacturing partnerships, rigorous quality oversight, and transparent execution to deliver a modern experience from planning through energization. Rather than simply supplying equipment, we work as an extension of our customers’ teams – bringing clarity, accountability, and confidence to every stage of the project lifecycle.

Our portfolio includes medium and high-voltage transformers and switchgear serving utilities, renewable energy developers, data centers, EPCs, and other critical infrastructure markets. Every project is supported by a global manufacturing ecosystem, robust quality standards, and a commitment to long-term partnership. At Ayr, modernization isn’t just about the equipment we deliver. It’s about improving how critical grid infrastructure projects are executed, communicated, and supported – because customers should expect more than hardware from the companies that power the future.
