Mechanical Engineer

VAC-CON is currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide production support and BOM creation for Various products built in Milwaukee.

Your Responsibility

  • Work directly with other engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images.
  • Preparation of accurate 3D solid models in Autodesk Inventor. Preparation of Bill of Materials for customer orders.
  • Support on Processing Engineering Change Order (ECO) using Autodesk Vault Professional.
  • Devise new design solutions to problems encountered.
  • Assist On-Going Product Improvement team with Daily designs per Customer.
  • Assist Product Development Team with New designs concepts needed to assist build new product.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other personnel to identify, define, and solve problems.
  • Review Issue management system and follow up on related Engineering Change orders.
  • Work and communicate with other departments.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with codes and legal regulations.
  • This individual will be trained in the Vac-Con ECO system to make drawing changes while not assisting Production, this will be a secondary job function.
  • Creation of BOM for Vec-Loader products and develop modular BOM creation procedures.

This position Will report to Engineering Manager. This position will bridge the gap between engineering and production.

Required Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
  • Ability to read Electrical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic schematics.

Qualifications

SUMMARY

Assist in the design and development of new products and the improvement of existing products. Ensures customer requirements are met through system design, validation testing and failure analysis. Acts as a central resource for manufacturing, testing, quality, and marketing of products. Assesses potential application of company products or services and offers solutions that meet customer needs. Uses technical knowledge of product offerings to support the team.

JOB FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design new systems and products.
  • Collaborate with sales team to use existing designs within new configurations with the goal of minimizing Engineering time to Market.
  • Use standard concepts and modular design methodology.
  • Utilize past experience and education to make sound decisions in the best interest of the company.
  • Create design templates to improve sales drawing throughput and consistency.
  • Work with Production to maximize efficiencies within system designs, concentrating on modular system concepts.
  • Work with end users and RSMs to facilitate improvements to current designs and operation of equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Two to five years' experience in the Mechanical / Systems Design Field.
  • Hydraulics, electromechanical and systems experience preferred. 3D Parametric Modeling Software experience a plus and Inventor experience preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter and motivated.
  • Must perform well under pressure and able to thrive in fast paced environment.
  • Work closely with Inside sales staff / RSMs.
  • Strong customer service orientation (internal and external).
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills. Analytical, creative, and collaborative problem solver.
