Job Description

The Impact You'll Make

As our Mechanical Engineer, you'll join the Research & Development team at Danfoss Climate Solutions in Ljubljana and play a hands-on role in developing the next generation ofheating and district energy solutions.

Your impact? You'll turn engineering concepts into reliable, manufacturable products — from the early design and prototyping stages through testing, documentation, production, and continuous improvement. Your work will contribute to products such as control valves, electromechanical actuators, and district heating substations used in modern, energy-efficient heating systems.

You'll be part of a highly collaborative team of experienced engineers working across disciplines. We value knowledge sharing, mentoring, and different perspectives — giving you the opportunity not only to contribute your expertise, but also to continuously develop it.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Contribute to new product development from concept to project handover, including mechanical design, prototyping, simulations, testing, and preparation of final product documentation.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and product specifications, ensuring that designs are clearly documented and ready to support manufacturing.
  • Support product improvements and engineering changes, identifying opportunities to improve product performance, manufacturability, quality, and time-to-market.
  • Collaborate across functions with R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, and other teams to resolve technical challenges, optimize production, and manage product changes.
  • Take ownership of your engineering expertise and project responsibilities, ensuring milestones and deadlines are met while continuously developing your knowledge of new technologies, tools, and engineering methods.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a hands-on Mechanical Engineer who enjoys turning ideas into real products and solving practical engineering challenges.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field, with at least 3 years of experience in mechanical product development or a similar engineering role.
  • Practical experience with 3D CAD modelling, preferably Creo, and an understanding of mechanical design and product development processes.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams, with the ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other functions.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, heating, hydronic, or district energy systems is highly valuable, together with a willingness to learn and develop expertise in new technologies.
  • Fluent English and strong communication skills, combined with a proactive, results-oriented mindset and the ability to take ownership of your work.

What You'll Get from Us

  • The opportunity to work on innovative, market-leading heating and district energy technologies that contribute to more energy-efficient and sustainable buildings.
  • A hands-on engineering role where you can see your work move from concept and CAD model to a real product used in the market.
  • Collaboration with experienced engineers and experts in mechanical design, mechatronics, heating technologies, manufacturing, and product development.
  • A strong focus on learning, mentoring, and professional development, with opportunities to expand both your technical expertise and your broader engineering skills.
  • A permanent position in an international and collaborative environment, where knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement are part of how we work.
