Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Mechanical Engineer to join our team!

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical engineering support for the design, coordination, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems associated with airport, aviation, and infrastructure projects.

The role will coordinate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, consultants, vendors, construction teams, Quality, HSE, Planning, and commissioning teams to ensure mechanical works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, applicable codes and standards, and client requirements.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Review and coordinate mechanical engineering activities across aviation and infrastructure project packages.
  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, technical reports, and design documents.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces with Civil, Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, Fire & Life Safety, ICT, and architectural disciplines.
  • Provide technical support for airport and infrastructure mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, pumping systems, utilities, and specialist mechanical systems as applicable.
  • Review mechanical equipment selections, technical specifications, data sheets, and vendor submissions.
  • Review contractor and supplier technical submittals and ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Support the development and review of Material Submittals, Method Statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and technical submissions.
  • Review mechanical installation works and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and construction requirements.
  • Provide engineering support to construction teams and resolve technical issues encountered during site execution.
  • Review and respond to RFIs, technical queries, design clarifications, and site technical issues.
  • Conduct site inspections and monitor mechanical works for compliance with approved engineering requirements.
  • Coordinate with Quality teams to ensure required inspections and testing are completed.
  • Support testing, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and functional performance testing of mechanical systems.
  • Review testing and commissioning procedures and verify system performance against approved design requirements.
  • Support equipment start-up, functional testing, balancing, pressure testing, flushing, and system verification as applicable.
  • Coordinate mechanical interfaces and system integration with existing and new airport infrastructure.
  • Review design changes, technical alternatives, and proposed modifications and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Identify design coordination issues, constructability concerns, and technical risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and Vendors regarding technical requirements, equipment delivery, inspections, and technical documentation.
  • Participate in technical coordination meetings with consultants, contractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
  • Monitor engineering deliverables and technical actions to ensure timely closure.
  • Review and verify as-built drawings, O&M manuals, testing records, commissioning documentation, and handover dossiers.
  • Support preparation of technical reports and progress updates for project management.
  • Ensure mechanical works comply with applicable ASHRAE, ASME, NFPA, IPC, IMC, SMACNA, ASTM, ISO, and other project-specific standards, as applicable.
  • Support value engineering and constructability initiatives to improve system performance, reliability, maintainability, and project cost effectiveness.
  • Coordinate with HSE teams to ensure mechanical works are executed in accordance with applicable safety requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers, inspectors, and site teams.
  • Support continuous improvement and lessons-learned activities related to mechanical engineering and project delivery.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proven experience in airport, aviation, infrastructure, buildings, utilities, or major construction projects.
  • Good understanding of mechanical building services and infrastructure systems.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
  • Good understanding of design, construction, testing, commissioning, and handover processes.
  • Professional Engineering certification is preferred.
  • PMP or equivalent project management training is an advantage.
  • LEED / CEM / ASHRAE certifications are advantageous depending on project requirements.
  • Relevant HSE certifications are an advantage.
