Job Description

Mekanika is a leading operator in the Building and Engineering Services Industry, specialising in mechanical and electrical contracting, HVAC solutions, lifts and escalators, industrial products and facilities management. Due to continued growth and expansion, an exciting career opportunity has arisen for a Store Manager.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Preparing quantity take-offs and cost estimates for labour, materials and equipment during both the tendering and project execution stages;
  • Assisting in the preparation of tenders, budgets, procurement plans, engineering documentation, drawings and technical submittals;
  • Conducting site surveys in relation to prospective and ongoing projects;
  • Designing, costing, commissioning and supporting HVAC and other mechanical systems;
  • Sourcing local and international suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement of materials and equipment;
  • Providing technical advice on the installation, operation and maintenance of HVAC and mechanical systems;
  • Preparing purchase requisitions and coordinating procurement requirements;
  • Monitoring site progress, carrying out site visits and reporting on project status and material usage;
  • Liaising with the Construction Office regarding amendments to approved mechanical and HVAC drawings and specifications;
  • Providing technical support to site teams during installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems;
  • Assisting in the training and development of draughtspersons and technicians;
  • Preparing regular and ad hoc reports and supporting the Division Manager in the recruitment and development of team members;
  • Keeping up to date with industry developments, suppliers, products, materials and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should:

  • Hold a relevant qualification at MQF Level 6 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering;
  • Possess a sound technical understanding of HVAC and mechanical building services;
  • Be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Experience with AutoCAD or other engineering design software will be considered an asset;
  • Be organised, detail-oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities;
  • Be able to work under pressure and meet defined deadlines;
  • Be self-motivated, proactive and able to work on own initiative;
  • Have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
