MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team working in Crane, IN. This will be an onsite position
This role provides essential technical support throughout the lifecycle of ammunition and weapons systems from initial prototyping and design to rigorous field testing and deployment.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Generate and update high-fidelity technical drawings, 3D CAD models (SolidWorks/Fusion 360), and system layouts for specialized ammunition components and complex assemblies.
Support the Rapid Innovation Prototyping Laboratory (RIPL) by designing and manufacturing functional prototypes using advanced additive manufacturing (Resin, FDM) and specialized casting methods (Lost PLA/Polymer).
Assist in metallurgical studies and material testing to ensure structural integrity and performance of ammunition components under extreme operational conditions.
Coordinate and participate in live-fire and mechanical test events at NSWC Crane and Camp Atterbury.
Assist in data collection, instrumentation setup, and the analysis of ballistics and mechanical fitment.
Prepare technical reports, white papers, and specifications for Technical Data Packages (TDP).
Interface with senior engineers, Branch Managers, and external vendors to track project milestones and ensure the on-time delivery of mission-critical capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering technology
0-1+ years of professional experience related to manufacturing engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Additive Manufacturing for functional mold design or low-volume production.
Familiarity with ballistics engineering and material stress analysis.
Clearance Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen and possess a current or active Secret security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
The person in this position must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, or to communicate with co-workers, management, and customers, via email, phone, and or virtual communication, which may involve delivering presentations.
