Leidos’ Defense Systems is seeking a talented Mid-Level Mechanical Engineer for its Hypersonics line of business. With offices across the United States engaging in the defense, space, cyber and commercial fields, Leidos provides responsive, cost-effective engineering, scientific and IT solutions. The selected candidate will support the Common Hypersonic Glide Body program (CHGB). Primary Responsibilities.

  • Create and maintain Technical Data Package (TDP) artifacts, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and specifications.
  • Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Coordinate with the design agent to implement design changes that improve manufacturability and resolve production issues.
  • Revise existing designs and develop new designs to enhance producibility and process efficiency.
  • Collaborate within integrated product teams (IPTs) to support drawing updates and production efforts.
  • Support production activities, including troubleshooting mechanical issues and implementing corrective actions.
  • Disposition non-conformances and support root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead and facilitate technical meetings with internal and external stakeholders, including design, peer, and tabletop reviews.
  • Manage multiple tasks and projects with minimal supervision.

Basic Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution with 4+ years of relevant experience or Master’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as Creo, CATIA, AutoCAD, or SolidWorks.
  • Experience working within Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) environments.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack-up analysis.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, and configuration management processes.
  • Experience leading issue resolution in a production environment.
  • Strong attention-to-detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and in team environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications.

  • Active security clearance.
  • Experience supporting DoD programs related to missile systems, reentry vehicles, or hypersonic technologies.
  • Prior work in assembly, integration, or testing of missile systems.
  • Experience supporting rapid development, prototyping, or fast-paced engineering programs.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 aerospace quality management systems.
  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-31000 Technical Data Package (TDP) development.
  • Experience creating engineering drawings using PTC Creo and managing data in Windchill.
  • Understanding of cost, schedule, and programmatic impacts associated with engineering deliverables.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
