We are seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Engineer with strong project management skills to support operational excellence across slitting, blanking, pickling, shipping, receiving, and maintenance areas. This individual will lead and support capital improvement projects that enhance equipment reliability, product compliance, be a hands-on team player, and focus on safety and throughput.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional projects from concept through execution using structured problem-solving tools (A3, 8D, PDCA, SMED).
  • Support capital projects, including specification, vendor evaluation, commissioning, and training.
  • Analyze downtime, scrap, and maintenance data to identify root causes and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance and Production to optimize equipment reliability
  • Implement Lean tools and ensure process flow efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO/IATF standards, safety regulations, and Worthington’s EH&S policies.
  • Participate in Gemba walks, internal audits, and process validations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • 5-8 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing cross-functional projects from design through implementation.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD and project management tools.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Must be able to meet the required onsite schedule.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in steel processing (slitting, blanking, pickling) or heavy industrial maintenance.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949, OSHA, and EH&S standards.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, CMMS systems, or OEE dashboards.
