We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer in support to ATG Engineering for one of our locations in either Noordwijk, The Netherlands, Barcelona, Spain or Frascati, Italy. Please be aware that this position will initially be for a definite period of 9 months, with the possibility of extension.
Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).
The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
Review and analysis of requirements/specifications provided by the customer;
Conceptual and detailed design and selection of various mechanical elements and interfaces;
Accommodation within optical payloads and other systems of the different subsystems, units and (optical) components;
Production of manufacturing drawings;
Production of ICDs, assembly drawings and associated procedures;
Documentation of the work, and presentation and justification of the work in formal and informal reviews and milestones.

Master’s degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering, or similar. In special cases, we may accept bachelor degrees instead of masters;
At least 3 years of relevant industrial work experience in the field of mechanical design engineering, preferably in the space sector;
Hands-on experience with CAD software – preferably CATIA V5;
Hands-on experience with SAP PLM (for configuration tree management);
Experience with manufacturing drawings and GD&T;
Knowledge of common mechanical design standards (e.g., EN, ISO);
Knowledge of aerospace standards (e.g., ECSS, NASA);
Previous experience with optomechanical systems is a strong asset.
Experience with FE analysis and software is an asset;
Experience with fibre-reinforced composites is an asset;
Capable of working autonomously and in a team;
Willingness to travel to the customer premises on as needed basis;
Candidates must be eligible to live and work in the EU;
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
