Job Description

βš‘οΈπŸ’‘ About Assystem

Assystem is an international engineering and project management group accelerating the energy transition worldwide. Our 7,500 Switchers combine decades of engineering expertise with digital innovation to deliver complex, safety-critical infrastructure. In the UK, we play a key role on landmark programmes including Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C and emerging Small Modular Reactor developments, supporting the delivery of secure, low-carbon energy for the future.

🀝 Why Join the Community of Switchers?

You will be joining one of the three largest nuclear engineering companies in the world, working at the heart of the UK’s most significant energy programme. Assystem offers exposure to world-class projects, long-term career stability, and the opportunity to work alongside highly experienced engineers and delivery teams. Your future team values collaboration, practical problem solving, and engineers who want to make a real impact on site.

πŸš€ The Job Mission

This is a predominantly site-based role at Hinkley Point C, with candidates required to live within commutable distance of Bridgwater or be open to relocation support.

You will support mechanical construction delivery across a complex nuclear site and act as a key engineering interface between contractors and design teams.

πŸ“‹ Support management of technical queries, non-conformances, and design changes

🧩 Coordinate mechanical interfaces with other engineering disciplines

🚧 Support installation sequencing, access planning, and site readiness activities

πŸ” Participate in site walkdowns, inspections, and technical discussions

πŸ›‘οΈ Ensure works comply with nuclear safety, quality, and configuration requirements

Qualifications

πŸ› οΈ Required Skills and Qualifications

Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us.

We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply.

πŸŽ“ Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering

πŸ—οΈ Experience supporting mechanical works on construction or infrastructure projects

πŸ“ Exposure to mechanical design, layout, or engineering documentation

πŸ—‚οΈ Experience responding to site queries and technical clarifications

🀝 Confidence working directly with contractors and site teams

🧩 Understanding of multidisciplinary engineering interfaces

πŸ›‘οΈ Experience working within regulated or safety-critical environments

πŸ“„ Ability to work with controlled documentation and change processes

Additional Information

🌟 Why Apply?

This is a rare opportunity to be embedded on one of Europe’s most complex construction projects, gaining hands-on site experience while influencing engineering outcomes. If you want to work close to delivery, engage directly with contractors, and build a long-term future in nuclear engineering, this role offers both challenge and progression.

Benefits include:

🏑 Hybrid Working Opportunity
