Working in our Chief Technology Office (CTO)
The CTO division is where Open Cosmos technology comes to life. Covering engineering, product development, and technical innovation, the team designs, builds, and operates the satellites, systems, and platforms that make our missions possible. It’s a highly collaborative environment where ideas become real hardware, software, and data solutions that deliver impact from space.
Our Mechanical Engineering team plays a critical role in turning mission concepts into flight-ready hardware. Working across satellite platforms, subsystems, and ground support equipment, the team combines rigorous mechanical design with hands-on assembly and testing.
Collaborating closely with AIT, systems, electronics, and external partners, our mechanical engineers ensure every structure is precise, manufacturable, and ready for the demands of space — from cleanroom build to launch.
What You’ll Be Doing
Leading mechanical design activities across satellites, subsystems, and ground support equipment (GSE)
Producing models, assemblies, and drawings using CAD tools
Applying GD&T standards (ISO 1101, 2692 & 5458 or ASME Y14.5) to ensure precision and manufacturability
Collaborating with suppliers, customers, and project teams to ensure successful outcomes
Supporting satellite assembly and testing alongside our AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) team
Authoring technical documents producing high-quality documentation including test and analysis reports
Working hands-on in our cleanrooms and labs as needed, with flexible remote working when possible
What You’ll Bring
A solid background in mechanical design and manufacturing principles
Proficiency in 3D CAD tools and confident file management
Ability to provide hands-on involvement in cleanroom assembly and testing environments
Strong communication skills – written, verbal, and within multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to take ownership of tasks and collaborate effectively to deliver results
A quality-first mindset and a willingness to adapt in a growing, dynamic company
