The Opportunity
We are currently seeking a EIT – Mechanical join to our Central Engineering Team team in Thompson.  Relocation will be required for this role.
 
The role is a permanent position
 
As a/an EIT – Mechanical, you will technical expertise in the mechanical & piping disciplines to Manitoba Operations. This will involve serving as a technical SME on engineering studies and sustaining capital projects through the Planning, Design and Execution phases. Your experience and skills will also be expected to provide technical guidance and mentoring to other members of the Central Engineering Team.
 
Additionally, in this position you will:
·      Provide mechanical and piping technical expertise and support to the Thompson Processing Plant, including engineering studies, assessments, and design work using data-centric 3D and CAD tools.
·      Provide technical direction to external engineering consultants and construction contractors, reviewing deliverables and assessing the quality of field work.
·      Translate operational needs into detailed design requirements and prepare accurate engineering deliverables, including drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
·      Support project budgets and schedules by providing technical expertise and developing material take-offs based on engineering deliverables.
·      Certify lifting devices and support the Safe Production model through risk and hazard management while leading by example.
·      Mentor and provide technical support to Central Engineering team members while demonstrating flexibility in engineering, project management, team administration, and continuous improvement assignments.

About You
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Eligible for registration with EGM
Experience:
  • Minimum of four years’ experience, preferably in a complex industrial setting.
  • Must have experience in the mechanical & piping disciplines
  • Experience in working in a heavy industrial operating plant, preferably in the mining industry.
Skills:
  • Familiarity with Engineering codes and standards
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Knowledge of FRP Pipe is a strong asset.
