Ready to support the engineering team behind heavy-duty pumping systems?
We're partnering with an AU Engineering company that is looking for a detail-focused Mechanical Draftsperson with strong SolidWorks experience to support its Australian engineering and drafting team. This role is ideal for someone confident in producing manufacturing drawings, DXF files, 3D models, assemblies, and technical documentation for fabrication and production.
This is not a design-from-scratch role. Most of the design work and models are already prepared by the engineering team. The main focus is to help convert those models into practical, accurate, and usable manufacturing outputs such as PDFs, DXF files, fabrication drawings, and supporting documentation that welders, machinists, and production teams can work from.
The ideal candidate should be highly proficient in SolidWorks, comfortable working with mechanical drawings and manufacturing documentation, and able to interpret technical information from engineers. Experience in heavy-duty pumps, piping, mining, oil and gas, fabrication, machining, or industrial equipment would be helpful, but strong SolidWorks capability is the priority.
Key Responsibilities
Support the Australian engineering and drafting team with day-to-day mechanical drafting requirements.
Produce detailed 2D manufacturing drawings from existing SolidWorks models and engineering inputs.
Create DXF files, flat patterns, and manufacturing-ready outputs for profiled plate and fabricated components.
Prepare PDFs, technical drawings, and production documentation that can be used by welders, machinists, and workshop teams.
Create and update detailed 3D mechanical models and assemblies using SolidWorks.
Develop assembly drawings, exploded views, and supporting documentation for installation, maintenance, fabrication, procurement, quotations, and manuals.
Generate and maintain Bills of Materials for components, assemblies, and project documentation.
Update and revise drawings and models based on feedback from engineering and production teams.
Maintain drawing standards, file structures, revision control, approval processes, and internal drafting documentation.
Prepare and update basic electrical schematics in Autodesk Fusion 360 when required.
Provide ad hoc drafting support and maintain accurate Excel-based data records.
Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineering teams to ensure drawings are accurate, practical, manufacturable, and aligned with project requirements.
Apply attention to detail when preparing drawings for fabrication, machining, assembly, and production use.
Support documentation consistency so files are clearly organised, traceable, and ready for review or release.
