Position Title: Mechanical Drafter

Department: Goose Works

Reports to: Mechanical Engineer

Compensation: $20-$30 Commensurate to Skills and Experience

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Position Description

The Mechanical Drafter will work directly with the Goose Works design team, supporting ongoing engineering projects with a focus on technical drawing and documentation. This role provides hands-on experience in CAD design, drafting, and engineering document management, offering exposure to the full design cycle within a professional engineering environment. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, motivated to learn, and eager to apply engineering concepts to real-world projects.

Responsibilities

• Support the Mechanical Engineer and Goose Works design team with design and documentation tasks.
• Create, update, and maintain technical drawings using Autodesk Inventor.
• Assist with engineering documentation, including revision tracking and organization of project files.
• Participate in design reviews and provide support with design updates as needed.
• Ensure drawings and documents meet company standards for accuracy and clarity.
• Collaborate with team members to support ongoing project deliverables.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to contribute to project goals.

Qualifications & Skills

• Completed or currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Basic understanding of engineering design principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
• Positive attitude, curiosity, and eagerness to learn.

Work Environment

This is largely a sedentary role with some travel required. This would require the ability to walk up and down stairs, and to enter, travel in, and exit vehicles and airplanes.
