Wood is seeking a Junior Mechanical / Piping Designer to join our Mining & Minerals team. Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, this position is located at our Trail, BC office.

Reporting to the Mechanical Department Manager, this position is located in our Trail, BC office. The mechanical designer will apply knowledge of design principles and practices to Wood's products and services.

Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.

Typical responsibilities
- Provide layout support and design of piping systems for lead and zinc plants and related infrastructure. This includes
- Mechanical equipment, building services/HVAC, and piping.
- Design and drafting of equipment and piping systems in 2D and 3D drawing environments
- Prepare engineering drawings from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures.
- Prepare mechanical drawings, diagrams, and/or models of various equipment, using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and/or computer-aided drafting and design(CADD) software.
- Attend project meetings and discussions with the client and staff
- Develop and maintain positive & sustainable relationships within our team and with clients
- Work as part of a multidiscipline engineering team

Expected:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MechTech) or Engineering Design & Drafting Technology (CAD/CAM) or equivalent diploma
- 1-3 years of experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, and/or AVEVA E3D software and excellent knowledge of 3D design/drafting.
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
- Additional assets include:
- Other mining and smelting experience,
- Piping, materials handling, and / or HVAC experience,
- Underground mining experience,
- Construction experience
- Current authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
- This position is located in Trail, BC, Canada and is not budgeted for relocation assistance or any type of living allowance. Applicants must live within reasonable commuting distance to the Trail, British Columbia office or be willing to relocate at own expense
