You’ll work on a wide range of cutting-edge systems—from launchers and missiles to radars and satellites—designing the structures, components, assemblies, and specialized test equipment that make these missions possible. Using advanced 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and the Leidos Enterprise Product Lifecycle Management (EPLM) Windchill system, you’ll transform innovative ideas into engineered reality.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical problem-solving and precision design. While you’ll take ownership of your daily design tasks, you’ll also benefit from mentorship and collaboration with experienced engineers and designers who will support your professional growth along the way.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
Typically requires BS and 4 – 8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2 – 6 years of prior relevant experience or:
Associate’s degree in Design/Drafting with 6-10 years of relevant experience, or 8+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
Proficient in CAD software and able to learn new tools and techniques.
Familiar with government and industry standards.
Familiar with ASME Y14 standards.
Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
Ability to work onsite at a Huntsville, AL, Leidos facility.
Flexible and capable of switching between tasks and toolsets.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
3D modeling experience with SolidWorks and Creo.
2D drawing experience using SolidWorks, Creo, AutoCAD, and Visio.
Experience with Windchill PLM.
Background in mechanical design.
Experience creating technical data packages to MIL-STD-31000 requirements.
Hands-on experience in mechanical assemblies.

Pay Range $87,100.00 - $157,450.00
