We are hiring for a Mechanical Design Engineerthat will be focused within Electrical Integrationwithin our main cabin seating team. The candidate willbe responsible fordesigning major components or major portions of functional systems, technically advanced prototypes, and promotional or specific products using computer design and engineering systems. Developing or improving products andfacilitatesmanufacturing operations. Developing data and makes layouts, sketches, and notes for design proposals. Investigate pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Designs, develops and tests metallic or non-metallic structures or materials and their related fabrication processes for use in engineering designs.

This is an onsite position in Winston Salem, North Carolina.

What you will do:

  • Integrate electrical components and wiring into design while meeting vendor and OEM requirements.
  • Liaises between electrical integration team, electrical certification, design engineering,vendorsand project teams.
  • Prepares work statements for electrical integration team.
  • Directs the work of outsource resources assigned on projects in electrical integration areas.
  • Verify system configuration and block diagrams.
  • Prepare,modifyand release drawings created in CAD (NX) to verify fit,formand function of mechanical and electrical designs.
  • Design brackets and fixations for electrical components and wiring.  Verify structural acceptability of designs by testing prototypes for reliability and FAA certification through static and dynamic crash testing.
  • Evaluate materials and parts for use innew designsincluding communicating with current and new suppliers.
  • Operate in a team environment with other functional areas providing input to design solutions andparticipatein design reviews

Qualifications you must have:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S without the company’s immigration sponsorship now or in the future. The company will not offer immigration sponsorship for this position. The company will not seek an export authorization for this role.
  • Experience in design using Siemens NX or other 3D CAD software.
  • Experience integrating electrical components (routing, harnesses,andmechanical installations)

Qualifications we prefer:

  • Prior experience in the design of mechanical systems for commercialaircraftseating products.
  • Experience working with Teamcenter or other Product Data Management (PDM) tools.
  • Experience working with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
  • Familiarity with FAA requirements

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
