We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of missile hardware and critical system components. In this role, you will define functional and mechanical interfaces, drive integration, and ensure that every design meets rigorous specifications throughout the entire product life cycle.
At Frankenburg, you will join an exceptional team bringing together top engineering and defence expertise from across Europe. You will have the opportunity to shape system-level architecture and take full ownership of mechanical designs — from early concept to final delivery. Collaborating across disciplines, you will tackle integration challenges, optimize designs for manufacturability, and ensure the highest standards of reliability, safety, and traceability.
Own end-to-end mechanical design of missile structures and subsystems, ensuring compliance with performance, weight, durability, and manufacturability requirements.
Collaborate with teams across propulsion, GNC, avionics, and payload to manage mechanical interfaces effectively.
Conduct formal design reviews, assess alternative solutions, and ensure that all designs meet specified requirements.
Generate and maintain interface control documents and configuration baselines throughout the development life cycle.
Manage and coordinate subcontracted mechanical work, review deliverables for alignment with specifications and quality standards.
Educational Background
Bachelors' degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
At least 3 years of experience designing complex mechanical systems within the aerospace, UAV, defence, space, or related industries.
Technical Skills
Proficient in CAD and peripheral configuration management systems.
Soft Skills
Solution-oriented mindset, excellent communication, and keen attention to detail. Able to perform with minimal support staff, rolling up your sleeves when needed.
Mission Alignment
Strong alignment with our mission to build affordable and mass-manufacturable defence technologies — ensuring every euro spent moves us closer to our goal.
Security Clearance
Willingness to undergo a background check as a condition of employment.
Open to Relocate
Willingness to relocate to Riga.
Our mission is ambitious, and it takes a team that works with the same intensity.
Own the Mission: Mission first. Always.
We choose impact — we focus on what moves the mission forward fastest instead of “nice-to-haves". We fix it now — when delays or problems appear, we step up, rally the right people, and solve them immediately. We keep momentum — when time matters, we stay focused and move forward without waiting for perfect conditions.
Strive for More: Dare more. Do more. Achieve the impossible.
We challenge the status quo — we question, test, and improve instead of accepting “the usual way.” We embrace discomfort — we step outside comfort zones and turn challenges into growth. We anticipate the future — we build solutions that scale and set higher standards each time.
Build with Trust: Be open. Keep promises.
We walk the talk — what we say, we do. No excuses, no exceptions. We share openly — we communicate clearly and early, even when the news is hard. We own outcomes — we admit errors quickly, fix them, and prevent them from repeating.
Apply now! The deadline is August 16, 2026, but we review applications and reach out to qualified candidates continuously.

Frankenburg Technologies is a European defence technology company developing next-generation interceptor missiles for short-range air defence and counter-UAS. Our systems are designed to protect armed forces and critical national infrastructure from large-scale aerial threats: from wartime drone swarms to peacetime incursions near airports, energy sites, or logistics corridors.
Designed to be fast, lightweight, and mass-manufacturable, Frankenburg’s missile systems drastically lower intercept cost and complement existing layered air defence architectures. We combine modular design, containerised manufacturing, and rapid localised build cycles to enable scalable, sovereign production across Europe.
Headquartered in Tallinn with operations in Latvia, Lithuania, Denmark, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, and Ukraine, Frankenburg is building Europe’s next-generation missile house for the drone era.
Our mission is to equip the free world with the technologies needed to win the war.
