Position Objective (The purpose of role in current business/market scenario):

To excel in this role, we expect you to have strong experience in many aspects of design engineering, including computer-aided design (CAD), mechanical design, and prototyping. You will be highly experienced at producing and maintaining technical drawings for engineering teams. You will have applied your knowledge and experience to a broad range of product development projects, perhaps even including some for the fire industry.

You enjoy guiding product designs through from concept to manufacture and consider the impact of early design decisions upon the end-to-end product lifecycle.

The position is based out of Noida and requires supporting local development projects of HFI and of another Halma company in UK.

Responsibilities (KRAs / deliverables / job expectations):

  • Design and creation of prototype designs in Solidworks suitable for 3D printing to support the development of products and test fixtures.
  • Maintenance of engineering drawings in relation to the change control and new product introduction processes, including:
  • Generating & updating 3D & 2D CAD files using Solidworks.
  • Maintaining the Solidworks based company Product Data Management (PDM) repository.
  • Generating & updating Legacy product AutoCAD drawings
  • Providing 2D drawings (DXF, DWG, PDF) for technical file documentation.
  • Providing 3D models for data exchange (STEP, STL, IGES, 3D-PDF) and importing third party models into the Solidworks PDM.
  • Contributing knowledge and experience into the broader team.

Critical Success factors (critical / high impact aspects of role):

  • Strong Solidworks skills in creating and modifying models, assemblies, parts and drawings.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience of modelling and documenting product mechanical designs, including space modelling of electrical and electronic assemblies from imported parts and assembly CAD files.
  • Familiarity with operating a PDM repository.
  • Familiarity with version control of models, parts, drawings and documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Jira and Cognidox desirable.

Academic qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree mechanical engineering or equivalent field

Experience (exposure):

  • 3 to 4 years of experience in mechanical design.
  • Strong technical skills and knowledge of engineering principles.
  • Expert knowledge of AutoCAD, Solidworks.
