This role is responsible for leading commissioning strategy and execution across complex, multidisciplinary projects. The position works closely with project stakeholders, contractors, and operations teams to ensure systems are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with project objectives. The individual will play a critical role in driving coordination, performance, and successful system turnover.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute commissioning activities across all project phases, from design through startup, testing, and final handover.
  • Support design review and familiarization while contributing to commissioning planning, system breakdown, and startup sequencing strategies.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, procedures, schedules, and overall execution approach.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, engineers, and client stakeholders to ensure system readiness and alignment with project milestones.
  • Drive structured commissioning progression including installation verification, pre-energization readiness, operational testing, and functional performance validation.
  • Oversee QA/QC verification, pre-functional checks, and functional testing across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Manage system startup, energization, and cross-system integration to ensure safe and reliable operation.
  • Identify, track, and drive resolution of commissioning issues through to closure.
  • Manage commissioning documentation including checklists, test scripts, issue logs, and final reports.
  • Utilize commissioning tools and tracking systems to monitor system status, readiness, and KPI performance.
  • Lead commissioning meetings and provide clear reporting and communication with stakeholders.
  • Ensure systems meet design intent, operational requirements, and client expectations prior to handover.
  • Support system turnover, training, and final closeout documentation for operations teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and coordination across multidisciplinary commissioning teams.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all commissioning activities comply with site requirements.
  • Any other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned to you in your role.

Skills Required:

  • Strong understanding of commissioning processes across mechanical, electrical, and controls systems.
  • Proven experience managing commissioning activities within large-scale or mission-critical projects.
  • Ability to develop commissioning strategies, plans, and execution methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills across multidisciplinary environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience with commissioning tools and platforms for tracking progress and performance.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive issue resolution efficiently.
  • High attention to detail with strong documentation and reporting capabilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines in fast-paced environments.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance with industry standards.

Education / Licenses / Certifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
  • Commissioning or project management certifications preferred.
  • PMP certification preferred.
    Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable.
