We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Automation Engineer to lead the design, development, and optimization of mechanical systems for automation equipment and production platforms.
The ideal candidate will play a key role in developing robust, scalable, and modular automation solutions, integrating mechanical design with robotics, motion systems, and manufacturing processes. This role drives innovation across the full product and equipment lifecycle—from concept and prototyping to validation, production, and sustaining support.
This role requires strong hands-on mechanical engineering expertise, system-level thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and deep understanding of design principles for reliability, manufacturability, and automation performance.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and develop mechanical systems for automation equipment, including machine structures, precision mechanisms, tooling, and end-effectors.
• Own the mechanical design lifecycle, including requirements definition, concept development, feasibility studies, architecture design, prototyping, validation, and transition to manufacturing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, suppliers) to ensure seamless system integration and overall automation performance.
• Apply DFX principles—Design for Manufacturability, Assembly, Automation, Reliability, and Cost—to ensure robust and scalable designs.
• Perform kinematic analysis, tolerance stack-up, material selection, and structural validation to meet system performance requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical and system-level issues during development, verification, pilot builds, and sustaining phases.
• Develop and support mechanical solutions for automation systems, including fixtures, handling mechanisms, conveyors, and robotic interfaces.
• Conduct design reviews, risk assessments (DFMEA/PFMEA), and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards.
• Maintain precise engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models, drawings, BOMs, design specifications, and revision control according to internal quality processes.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (required).
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design for automation equipment, machinery, or production systems.
• Strong proficiency in CAD tools (Siemen NX, or equivalent).
• Solid knowledge of machine design principles, including kinematics, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and materials selection.
• Experience with automation systems such as robotics, motion control (servo, linear actuators), precision tooling, and end-effectors (preferred).
• Understanding of integration between mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills in both development and sustaining environments.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams.
