In this position, you will join our Manufacturing & Production Organization within our Aeronautics Systems sector as an Mechanical Assembler– Level 1 supporting our Bethpage, NY site. A Mechanical Assembler is a specialized manufacturing and production role responsible for constructing, fitting, and installing components to build complex machines or mechanical products. They work directly from digital drawings and 3D models to bring product designs to life using both hand, pneumatic and power tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • CAD Reading: Interpreting technical drawings, models, diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and Specifications to ensure builds are accurate.

  • Tool Operation: Safely using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments (e.g., calipers, torque wrenches) to fit and align parts.

  • Quality Control: Inspecting components before and after assembly to detect defects, missing pieces, or malfunctions.

  • Material Handling: Safely lifting heavy parts and moving materials across the shop floor.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED and a minimum of 2 years of experience with mechanical assembling in a manufacturing or production environment

  • Strong understanding of mechanics, fasteners, hardware, and structural buildouts.

  • The ability to uses MS Office products and CAD viewers on a daily basis.

  • High hand-eye coordination for precision assembly.

  • This position requires the ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks, and regularly lift 40-50 lbs.

  • Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance and Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as defined by the company to meet its business needs. U.S. Citizenship required for clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current/active U.S. Government Secret level clearance

  • Experience in aerospace manufacturing

  • Demonstrated ability using standard measuring equipment and power hand tools

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, assembly drawings, process specifications, technical manuals, written instructions, test procedures, blueprints, etc.

  • Experience as an operator of precision machinery such as a milling machine or lathe

Primary Level Salary Range: $36,500.00 - $60,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.The application period for the job is estimated to be 20 days from the job posting date.
