Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined below will be considered for this opportunity.

As a Mechanic Trainee, you will be responsible for the following:
• Learn to perform maintenance on power station mechanical equipment.
• Perform overhauling and maintenance of major industrial equipment such as pumps, valves, turbines and other rotating equipment.
• Overtime - planned and emergency, is required.
• You will be placed in a standardized skills development program.
• Individual will be part of the emergency response organization and some travel (for periods of up to a month or more) may be required to support other station outages.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

You must be able to lift 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:
• One (1) year of experience in overhauling and maintaining equipment such as pumps, valves, turbines and other rotating equipment.
• Experience working with hand tools/industrial tools, rigging, scaffolding, forklifts, coarse and precision measurement tools, etc.
• Experience working in a Nuclear Power Plant
• Millwright experience
• Journeyman's license in any field
• Vocational/Technical training or prior military experience
• Basic computer skills (including keyboarding)
• A strong mechanical aptitude is a plus

Other Qualifications:
• Good oral communication skills
• Applies basic skills and works on developing advance skills using tools and equipment
• Ability to resolve routine questions and problems, referring more complex issues to more experienced personnel
• Ability to follow standard written and oral instruction

Education Requirements

High school diploma

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.5.7.1 and 4.5.7.2 Education requirements: High school diploma Minimum experience for the position: Related experience 1 yr.
This position is part of a formal training program whereby the candidate/employee may not meet the full ANSI requirements of years of experience until the formal training program is completed.
