Job Description:

Maryland Environmental Service has an opening for a Mechanic Trainee, Mechanic, Senior Mechanic, or Lead Mechanic (depending on experience) at the Prince George’s County Organics Composting Facility (OCF) located in Upper Marlboro, MD. This position performs installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical equipment used to support facility operations and a variety of environmental projects.

Estimated Pay Range:

$43,592.64 - $87,753.12

Minimum Requirements:

Qualifications for all position levels require graduation from a standard high school or possession of GED equivalency certificate. All must have a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points. All must be able to lift 50 pounds. All must have the ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing. Formal schooling from an accredited vocational school with a major in related field of study may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for up to three (3) years of the required experience.

  • Mechanic Trainee: requires no additional experience.
  • Mechanic: requires three (3) years of experience performing installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
  • Senior Mechanic: requires five (5) years of experience performing installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment
  • Lead Mechanic – requires seven (7) years of experience performing installation, repair, and maintenance of mechanical equipment

Appointment to some sites may require Commercial Driver’s License with specific endorsements.

This position will be open until filled.
