Position Title Vehicle Mechanic III                                     

Business Unit or Department:Vehicle Maintenance

Position Reports to:Fleet Supervisor

Location:Crystal Mountain, WA

Wage Range:$ 36.00 - 40.00 / hour DOE & Certification

Responsible to inspect vehicles and equipment for safe and dependable operation. Works onintermediate/advancedlevel aspects of the maintenance and repairs of company vehicles with little supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Diagnoses and repairs mechanical,electricaland engine defects in buses and other automotive and heavy equipment, including diesel engines.

  • Diagnostic troubleshooting and repair of engine codes under the OBD-II system.

  •  Prep vehicles for service to include cleaning and washing off vehicles/ equipment.

  •  Ensure proper operation of engines, tools, and equipment by checking for worn parts and completing preventive maintenance according to manufacturers' maintenance manuals.

  • Change oil filters, install anti-freeze, and snow chains, repair tires, adjust brakes, lubricate chassis, wheel bearings and other assemblies asrequired Perform the required preventive maintenance and regular safety/annual inspections.

  •  Perform routine maintenance checks on all vehicles and equipment including snow removal machines, heavy equipment, buses, trucks, vans, snowmobiles, and other company vehicles.

  •  Maintain equipment, parts and supplies inventory and conserves resources by checking stock todetermineinventory level;anticipateequipment, parts, and supplies as needed toaccomplishjob results.

  •  Mend damaged body parts.

  •  Maintain logs and work sheets of inspection and maintenance performed on all equipment.

  • Minor snow removal around the shop and off equipment.

  • Perform metalfabrication asincutting and welding.

  •  Locate sources of problems byobserving, listening to, and checking mechanical devices in operation.
     Remove defective parts by dismantling devices, examining, and diagnosing the cause of failure and correcting the condition.

  •  Mayoperatea variety of equipment and power tools while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies with this equipment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum age of 18

  • Valid Driver’s License (CDL class B with airbrake preferred)

  • Ability to Ski/Snowboard (notrequired)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 3yearsautomobile or equipment maintenance.

  • Knowledge of automotive and mechanic problem solving.

  • Basic math skills.

  • Knowledge of State and Federal DOT regulations.

  • Knowledge of the OBD-II system.

  • General knowledge of diagnosis and repair of hydraulic systems.

  • Airbrake certification preferred but notrequired

  • Knowledge of airbrake systems.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The employee isfrequentlyrequired to use hands to finger, handle or feelobjectstools or controls. Must be capable of frequent wrist, elbowand shouldtwisting and pulling movements. Must be capable of walking or standing 70% or more of a normal 8-hour work shift. Must be capable of occasionally lifting and pushing or pulling up to 50lbs. ,andfrequentlylifting, pushing, or pulling, and carrying up to 40lbs. Must be capable of climbing movements, walking on uneventerrain, andwalking on snow and ice, and operating snow vehicles. Must be able to bend, kneel, reach, and crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depthperceptionsand the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employeeis regularly required towalk, talk, see, hear, and smell.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Indoor / Outdoor While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be exposed to outside weather conditions. The employeefrequentlyworks near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places.

  • Hazardous Materials / Noise Employee will often be in contact with hazardous substances. They willbe occasionallyexposed to extreme hot/cold and wet conditions, noise, fumes or airborne particles, and the risk of electric shock. The noise level in the workplace is usually loud.
