Job Description

The International Institute of Tropical Agriculture seeks suitable Nigerian nationals for the positions below at the Institute’s Headquarters in Ibadan.

Position: Mechanic II

Contract: 3-years renewable contract

Location: Ibadan

Closing date: 29 June 2026

DUTIES:

  • Carry out planned preventive and breakdown maintenance of all water treatment, swimming pools, sewage systems, water treatment plant equipment and pump stations.
  • Perform general repairs and maintenance functional mechanical workshop and proper handling of tools.
  • Carry out washing of reservoirs, painting and assembling of parts.
  • Conduct routine maintenance of water treatment plant (WTP).
  • Perform any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

QUALIFICATION:

OND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with a minimum of two (2) years’ experience, or Trade Test 1, 2, 3 with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience performing a similar role in a well-structured environment.

COMPETENCIES:

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Sound technical and mechanical maintenance skills
  • Strong preventive maintenance capabilities
  • Effective technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in task execution.
