Job Description

The Mechanic III entry level with qualifying experience.

Qualifications: The classification of Mechanic III requires that the employee demonstrate the ability to perform the following tasks:

General lubrication functions:

  • Including engine oil / filter changes, air filter changes, chassis lubrication,
  • transmission fluid and filter changes, differential fluid checks, axle/wheel
  • Inspection of, removal and replacement of brake components
  • lubrication
  • tire changes
  • Removal and installation of seats
  • Parts disassembly and cleaning
  • Pre-delivery inspection of new and pre-owned coaches (based on safety ­critical items and mechanic qualification)
  • Assist a Mechanic I or Mechanic II

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • While formal education in automotive repair, mechanics, or a related field is a strong asset, it is not a requirement for this role. We value hands-on experience, a willingness to learn, and a strong work ethic just as highly.
  • 1-3 years of experience in automotive, diesel, or related fields. Familiarity with engine, driveline, and electrical systems is preferred.
  • Diagnostic Tools.

Physical Activity/Requirements

  1. Strength and Endurance
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Perform repetitive tasks, including bending, kneeling, and crouching, throughout the workday.

  • Mobility and Dexterity
    • Must have the physical ability to climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, and access tight or confined spaces to service vehicles.
    • Proficiency in using hands and arms to handle tools, manipulate small components, and operate equipment with precision.

  • Standing and Movement
    • Must be able to stand, walk, and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time (up to 8+ hours).

  • Visual and Hearing Acuity
    • Adequate visual ability to read diagnostic screens, inspect parts for defects, and identify color-coded wires and components.
    • Hearing capability to detect unusual vehicle noises, alarms, or other diagnostic indicators.

  • Environmental Factors
    • Work may be performed in varying conditions, including exposure to loud noises, vibrations, dust, fumes, and temperature fluctuations.
    • Comfortable wearing required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots, for extended periods.

  • Safety Awareness
    • Must be physically and mentally capable of adhering to all workplace safety procedures and handling equipment or vehicles safely.
