Summary

The first level of the Equipment Maintenance Series is responsible for performing skilled work involving preventative maintenance and mechanical repair of heavy equipment. Responsibilities may include: inspecting machines for maintenance needs; determining and conducting appropriate maintenance, repair or replacement work; and operating applicable equipment and tools.

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Valid Minnesota Class A Commercial Driver’s License or ability to obtain within six months of employment. All associated costs will be covered.
  • Valid DOT Vehicle Inspector Certifications or ability to obtain within nine months of employment. All associated costs will be covered.
  • Valid EPA HVAC Refrigerant Recovery and Recycling Certification or ability to obtain within nine months of employment (ADE, MACS or equivalent). All associated costs will be covered.

Desirable Requirements

  • Nine-month vo-tech training certificate in automotive, heavy equipment and/or small engine repair.
  • Automotive Service of Excellence (ASE) Certification.
