Job Description

You prioritise the safety of yourself and others at work, both physically and mentally.

You take health and safety as seriously as we do. You're passionate about being part of a team that delivers impactful health and safety outcomes so that everyone goes home safely every day.

In this role, you'll:

You’ll be working as part of a dedicated team within our major works at the Clyde Heavy Plant Depot. In this role, you will be responsible for maintenance, fault-finding, and responding to service breakdowns across a range of heavy on track and specialised rail machinery.

You will carry out a broad variety of maintenance activities on both mobile and stationary plant, including Rail Work Trains, Track Machines, Bobcats, Excavators, and light mobile plant—meaning no two days will be the same.

This is a 24/7 rostered position and may require periods of working away from home. In addition to the base wage, this role attracts overtime and a range of allowances, including Living Away From Home Allowance, night shift penalties, and allowances for work undertaken outside the depot.

About you

You will be a qualified tradesperson, holding a Certificate III in Auto Electrical, Mobile Plant Technology, Heavy Vehicle Mechanics, Fabrication, or another relevant trade qualification.

Your enthusiasm and strong work ethic coupled with your sound technical knowledge of plant and machinery formed across your work life as a plant mechanic or within the automotive electrical industry make you a great candidate.

Your broad experience across heavy plant as well as your abundance of electrical knowledge and expertise outside of the automotive field is notable. You’re an excellent trouble shooter, good at problem solving, can think logically but also laterally, if need be, and enjoy working as an integral part of a diverse dynamic team.

You might also have experience in hydraulics and/or pneumatics, but we don’t mind if you don’t!

Experience working on the Rail network will be preferred but not essential.
