Mechanic

Minnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for a Mechanic located at our headquarters in Grand Forks, ND.

The pay rate for this position begins at $32.92 per hour. Appropriate compensation will be determined based on a candidate's skills, education, and any previous relevant experience.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Perform repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance on automobiles, trucks, and heavy equipment.
2. Use hydraulic jack or hoist to gain access to mechanical units bolted to underside of vehicle.
3. Remove, disassemble, or inspect engine, transmission, differential, or parts for wear using wrenches and hoist.
4. Repair or replace parts.
5. Rewire ignition system, lights and instrument panel.
6. Realign and adjust brakes and replaces shock absorbers.
7. Replace and adjust headlights.
8. Install and repair accessories such as heaters, mirrors and windshield wipers.
9. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
10. Perform overhaul of gasoline and diesel engines.
11. Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance performed.
12. Assure proper equipment operations and qualified to work on same and assist or operate equipment for proper function.
13. Respond to field breakdown and emergency repair situations when required.
14. Operate various types of test equipment for engines, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
15. Comply with all applicable safe work practices and rules set forth by company, state, and federal regulatory agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Two-year automotive and diesel mechanic degree from an accredited program or equivalent experience.
• 4 years experience in automotive and diesel mechanics.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend instruction manuals.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform air and hydraulic brake systems repairs and maintenance.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform D.O.T. regulations and required inspections.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) or ability to obtain and maintain
